Case study (Re)Insurance in Practice course – EUBA 2023

We are continuing our efforts to raise knowledge of various reinsurance solutions! The University Connect & Engagement Council in cooperation with local Swiss Re expert colleagues has launched '(Re)Insurance in Practise' course at Economic University of Bratislava for the second semester in a row.
This time, Actuary students who have completed Effective Communication course led by us, are introduced to multiple angles of reinsurance. The course offers both theoretical and practical side thanks to real-life business cases and final project. Throughout the course, students are consulted by our colleagues, are given instant feedback on their work and also have the opportunity to feel the office atmosphere while the lectures are held in the Bratislava office premises.
To continue in the successful collaboration with faculties of Economic University of Bratislava, on Monday 26 February 2024, we visited the Faculty of International Relations and met with more than 60 students to promote not only '(Re)Insurance in Practise' course but also other Swiss Re & Universites collaboration activities such as ReImagine Challenge and SPARK programme .

We are already looking forward to start collaborating with these talented and ambitious students.

Case study Real-life project work, provided by Risk Engineering Services (RES)

UCE Council hosted the closing session of the seminar developed for the EUBA. During this 12-week seminar, besides learning about Swiss Re's business, the students were working on a real-life project work, provided by Risk Engineering Services (RES). The students were asked to develop solutions that would help predict #natcat risks and present their ideas in front of their Swiss Re mentors and the Council.
The students did an excellent job and presented fictional solutions such us a Flood prep app, where municipalities could predict future floods and take necessary precautions; a tool with interactive maps, 3D simulations and risk calculations for better Risk Management.
