Description

Bulloch has a wide-ranging approach to her practice that incorporates architecture, music, text, light and sound. The focus of these works is often about creating an atmosphere and, at the heart of it, Bulloch is fascinated by man-made systems, rules and regulations − be that in form, image, structure or, in this case − language.

Here, she plays with the language of the Inuit, and the cliché that they have numerous words to describe snow (though in reality this is not the case). When viewers look at the list of rules associated with this work, the dingbat font symbols can be changed into a readable font, revealing various Inuit expressions for snow.
