Swiss Re included in Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index for fifth consecutive year

For the fifth year in a row, Swiss Re is proud to be included in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) 2023, in recognition of our commitments and efforts to improving gender equality.

Gender equality is a business imperative for success. At Swiss Re, we see that organisations with a gender-balanced workforce are more likely to meet or exceed financial targets, report high performance, and achieve better results. Creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace for everyone is core to our beliefs, and we’re committed to proactively improving gender equality across the group.

"When more women participate and succeed in the workplace, we all benefit. At Swiss Re, we have come a long way toward creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace. The results of the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index help both to demonstrate our commitment to gender equality and to focus on the right actions for the future." Cathy Desquesses – Chief Human Resource Officer

To qualify for the Bloomberg GEI index, companies must score at or above a global threshold set by Bloomberg, which reflects their gender-data transparency, and achievement or adoption of best-in-class practices and policies. It assesses gender equality across five pillars:

  • Female leadership and talent pipeline
  • Equal pay and gender pay parity
  • Inclusive culture
  • Anti-sexual harassment policies
  • Pro-women brand

According to our Chief Diversity Officer, Natasha Gill, “While women continue to be underrepresented on executive and senior management levels, our continued inclusion in the Bloomberg GEI confirms we’re on the right track here at Swiss Re. Our actions are making a difference and I'm proud to see the measurable progress we're making, which is critical to attracting diverse talent and to our business success."

The GEI 2022, which includes 418 companies across 45 and regions, aims to track the performance of public companies committed to transparency in gender-data reporting. The index thus increases the breadth of environmental, social and governance (ESG) data available to investors and allows for assessment and comparison of performance across companies.

Inclusive culture

At Swiss Re, we embrace and build a diverse workforce that brings together the best of multiple generations, cultures, skillsets and thinking.
