Junior Claims Specialist (Corporate Solutions)

About the Role

Corporate Solutions considers each claim to be a business opportunity and is looking for a proactive, solution-oriented Claims Specialist for our Sydney office who will be responsible for handling a diverse portfolio of property claims.

You will be a strategic thinker and confident decision maker who is organised and can work well both independently and as part of a team.

Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing a caseload of property claims from receipt to final resolution;

  • Directing loss adjusters, experts and coverage/defense counsel;

  • Maintaining strong customer focus by proactively researching issues, providing support and assuring customer satisfaction in a timely fashion;

  • Supporting Underwriting team needs for claims information and consultation on wording issues;

  • Investigating, evaluating and settling claims, applying technical knowledge and people skills to effect fair and prompt claim resolution;

  • Completing detailed reviews of claim-related issues, including coverage, liability and damage and document the claim file appropriately;

  • Setting and maintaining appropriate and timely indemnity and expense reserves;

  • Formulating and executing negotiation and resolution strategies. You will also be comfortable interacting directly with Insureds and Brokers; and

  • Complying with all legal and regulatory requirements.

About the Team

The team handles Commercial Property, Engineering, Energy, General Liability and FinPro claims both domestically and internationally with a strong emphasis on quality and customer service. We are a diverse and inclusive team that works well in a collaborative environment while fostering and developing independent thought.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree with either legal experience or 5+ years claims handling experience;

  • Solid coverage, liability, damage investigation, evaluation, negotiation and claims resolution skills;

  • Have, or be willing to gain, an in-depth understanding of loss prevention and costing principles;

  • Excellent customer service skills with experience building and maintaining relationships with underwriters, customers, brokers and other internal and external business partners;

  • Deliver high quality, efficient and effective customer experience in every aspect;

  • Hardworking sales mindset, applying consultative selling skills to develop insights, propose solutions and build growth opportunities for clients and Corporate Solutions;

  • Demonstrate flexibility to adopt new ways of working principles and behaviours in their everyday life and coach other team members to do the same;

  • Expert in data analytics, developing methodologies and outputs to provide key insights to drive business decisions;

  • Have developed deep relevant digital expertise and advocate the use of these in a range of situations; and

  • Experience in handling shared and layered accounts as well as international programs is a plus!
