About the role

This  role within the Credit Risk Insurance Team will report to the Head of Credit Risk Insurance and be located in New York City/Armonk, New York. You will be reponsible for credit risk assessments and support of structured reinsurance transactions globally.

Your main tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Manage a discrete (re)/insurance portfolio through comprehensive and timely fundamental counterparty credit analysis and active monitoring
  • Set credit risk appetite for individual counterparties  
  • Support assessments of Insurance/Reinsurance transactions with embedded credit risk
  • Ensure appropriate capture and measurement of credit risk
  • Maintain and improve risk control frameworks related to financial credit
  • Contribute to core projects and senior management reporting

About the team

Our Credit Risk Management team is responsible for credit risk associated with a portfolio of insurance companies. We form an important part of Financial Risk Management with a global presence in New York, Zurich, London and Bangalore.

About you

We are looking for a goal-oriented self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

You have:

  • 5+ years experience in a credit risk management role with thorough understanding of the financial sector (Ideally with a background in fundamental counterparty credit risk analyis)
  • Strong academic qualifications. MBA, CFA or FRM a plus.
  • Proven track record demonstrating effective messaging and strong presentational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload in a fast-paced/deadline-driven environment with superlative organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Advanced excel knowledge. Facility in manipulating large amounts of data accurately and under time pressure for reporting and analytical purposes.
  • Co-operative team-player with solid communication and interpersonal skills

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Experience in structured finance and/or insurance sector

For New York City the estimated base salary range for this position is $88,000 to $132,000.  The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget.  At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
