EDGE certification is renewed for Swiss Re in Switzerland
Showing progress since 2015, Swiss Re requalified for an EDGE certification in Switzerland. EDGE is the leading global assessment methodology and business certification standard for gender equality.
Swiss Re requalified for the 1st level Assess EDGE certification in 2017 for its Zurich operations. EDGE, which stands for Economic Dividends for Gender Equality, is the leading global assessment methodology and business certification standard for gender equality. This renowned certification demonstrates Swiss Re's commitment to build an open and inclusive culture for all employees regardless of gender.
The EDGE methodology takes a business rather than a theoretical approach. It incorporates benchmarking, metrics and accountability into the certification process. EDGE assessed Swiss Re's operations in Switzerland on the following key drivers of gender equality:
- recruitment and promotion
- leadership development training and mentoring
- flexible working and company culture
- equal pay for equal work
This is followed by a "gap analysis" that provides a structured and systematic way to measure, track and address gender inconsistencies over a six-year period.
For Swiss Re, gender equality is not just about the advancement of women. It's about creating workplace policies, programmes and a culture where both men and women can thrive. The EDGE assessment and certification is only one of the ways Swiss Re is advancing diversity and inclusion.
