Actionable insights to steer your portfolio

As an initiator and co-founder of the European Wind Turbine Committee established in 2011, we were instrumental in developing the Offshore Code of Practice (OCoP) a best-practice guide for risk management in the sector. The Solar Panel Code of Practice (SPCoP), an initiative by Swiss Re and PV research institutions that helps producers, buyers, investors, banks and insurers better assess the long-term quality and reliability of solar panels in the context of insurance.

Customer stories Reinsuring the World's Largest Integrated Solar and Battery Storage Facility in the Philippines

As of 2024, we have partnered with Terra Solar Philippines, Inc. (TSPI)1 to co-lead the reinsurance of the world's largest integrated solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage system (BESS) facility. Expected to power 2.4 million Philippine households, the project aims to avoid 4.3 million metric tons of carbon emissions annually once completed.

Customer stories Expanding South Korea’s offshore wind capacity

South Korea has historically been dependent on cheap fossil fuel imports to meet its energy needs, with solar energy making up only 6.5% of its energy mix. In an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance energy security, the South Korean government set a target to generate 20% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030. A key element of this plan is the construction of offshore wind farms (OWFs). As the lead reinsurer for the construction of three of these OWF projects, Swiss Re has been supporting the development of renewable energy in Korea. Once the final construction phase is completed in 2025, these projects will have a capacity of approximately 190MW.
