Dr. Moritz Drefs is Swiss Re's Senior Medical Officer for the EMEA region. He is a board-certified visceral/abdominal surgeon and completed his trainings in the University Hospital of Munich, Germany's second largest hospital. Having worked in this profession for more than ten years, his main clinical and research focusses have been in Surgical Oncology, Liver Surgery and Organ Transplantation. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in internationally renowned scientific journals, most of them covering cancer and transplantation topics. Also, he still is a lecturer for the LMU. After having undergone the transition from the clinical field to the insurance industry, he is now involved in consulting in international Underwriting & Claims cases and product development within the EMEA region, as well as creating thought leadership articles on various medical topics. Additionally, one of his key tasks and passions is to use his medical experience to ensure upskilling of both, Swiss Re's L&H staff, and our clients' industry professionals
