Climate Transition Plan
At Swiss Re, we aim to decarbonise our business and have committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our business by 2050, in line with Swiss legal requirements. This commitment is part of our Group Sustainability Strategy.
Our Climate Transition Plan outlines the transition approach and action plan for decarbonising our business while developing related opportunities in order to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. Our climate transition approach is built on three strategic pillars: a decarbonisation strategy, a carbon removal strategy and transition-supporting activities.
As part of our net-zero transition approach, our actions and their prioritisation over time largely depend on external developments, in particular the availability of robust methodologies and reliable data, a supportive public policy environment and generally the pace at which the real economy transitions. We seek to address these critical dependencies and uncertainties through transition-supporting activities. We will continue to review the appropriateness of our approach, definitions and targets as relevant developments emerge.
The Climate Transition Plan forms an integral part of Swiss Re's Sustainability Report 2025. It outlines our action plan, climate targets and related progress. An extract of the relevant sections of the Sustainability Report can be downloaded below.
