Xue Jun

*1975 in Hebei Province, China
† 2019 in Beijing, China

Xue Jun’s paintings are bird’s-eye views of landscapes, their topography indicated with calligraphic marks. He endeavours to capture both the land forms themselves, and the forces that shaped them: rain, wind and time. Each painting is a kind of visual ode to the geological time scale that sees landscapes arise, change and sink back into the sea again.

Xue Jun has exhibited across China, Hong Kong and Europe since 1998, including at the Hongkun Museum of Fine Art, Beijing (2014) and Chongqing Exhibition Center, Chongqing (2009).
