Swiss photography legend Walter Pfeiffer started out as an illustrator in the 1960s and 1970s. For Pfeiffer, photography was initially a way to create templates for his photorealistic drawings. However, by the early 1980s, photography had become his medium of choice.

Pfeiffer's still life photography, his portraits of young and often naked men or of elegant women remained largely unknown. It wasn't until the early 2000s that he became famous for his deliberately amateurish approach, his sense of lightness, stark colours and, above all, subtle but seductive eroticism. Always on the lookout for glamour and the promise of perfection and beauty, it was only a matter of time before Pfeiffer started shooting editorial work and fashion campaigns as well.

Over the years, he established his very own distinct style: witty, a little bit cheeky and always with a certain nonchalance.
