Description

Albrecht Schnider's Untitled from 2001 is a perfect example of the Swiss artist's multi-layered practice. The large canvas with its blunt and colourful lines crisscrossing a turquoise ground is based on one of Schnider's drawings. The painting's lines, brushstrokes, you may guess, seem to be perfectly painterly. Yet, this impression is misleading. It is not the painting that is impulsive and expressive – its blueprint, the drawing, is.
