Description

The style of Helmut Federle's compositions in muted hues lies somewhere between symbolism of form and abstraction. Basic geometric forms, Asian calligraphy or simply his initials, H and F, serve as the inspiration and basis for his pictures. He has gradually moved away from the use of the letter H in Basics on Composition, an extensive series of small-format paintings. What becomes important is the resonance of two equivalent colours in symmetrically positioned squares.
