For There's Tears (2015) Latifa Echakhch uses old newspapers and turns them into an abstract painting of sorts. The tint on the pages is almost washed out, the letters have vanished and so have the images. All that is left is a grey colour field, reminiscent of classical abstraction – but made out of what once had a very concrete and precise meaning.
