Swiss Re has once again been recognised by the United Nations' Principles for Responsible Investment for its accomplishments in the field of responsible investing.
In 2007, Swiss Re became an early signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), an investor initiative closely linked to the United Nations through its partnership with the UNEP Finance Initiative and the UN Global Compact.
In its 2020 assessment, the PRI has confirmed our excellent result from the previous year: We again received the highest rating for our Strategy & Governance as well as Manager Selection, Appointment & Monitoring. Our approach to responsible investing is not only integrated and consistent, it also provides better risk-adjusted returns, especially during volatile times as shown here.
The PRI were launched at the New York Stock Exchange in April 2006. Swiss Re has been a signatory since 2007. The PRI's mission is to enable a sustainable global financial system, which they regard as a necessity for long-term value creation. They do this by encouraging investors to use responsible investments to enhance returns and better manage risks, an approach which closely corresponds to Swiss Re's Responsible Investing philosophy. Over the years PRI has become the leading global investor platform for continuous learning, engagement and the sharing of best practices. Since 2012 the organisation has been assessing the progress made by its more than 3000 signatories.
