Italy new earthquake model: State-of-the-art earthquake risk

Since 2007, Italy has experienced 5 significant earthquakes. The Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) has developed a new hazard model for Italy, which incorporates the impact of these earthquakes and best science available. Together with the GEM Foundation, Swiss Re has developed a new earthquake risk model, which reflects the latest scientific advancements and lessons learned from recent earthquakes.

Our new model, including the updated risk view, supports our clients in steering a more sustainable portfolio, and aims to build long term resilience in the case of natural catastrophe. It brings a timely update and is benchmarked with 10 years of recent loss experience.
