Dr. Vipin K S Joined Swiss Re in 2012 and currently works as Senior solutions manager in solutions division. He is based in Bangalore, India. Prior to moving to Property Solutions, he was working in the team which develops inhouse NatCat models. He is an experienced catastrophe model developer having strong foundation in model development and re/insurance industry. He has worked on diverse topics like - developing Earthquake and Volcano models, index-based solutions (Parametric solutions), development of NatCat vulnerability functions, post event loss assessment etc. Vipin has experience in Underwriting side and has done multiple underwriting rotations. His current focus is on structuring Parametric products, developing parametric costing platform and commercializing inhouse NatCat models.
Vipin holds a PhD in Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. He did his Post-Doctoral program under the endeavor fellowship from Government of Australia. He has published more than 50 research articles in peer reviewed high impact journals and conferences. While in Swiss Re, he has won NASSCOM award for best innovative product development.
