Pavel Huerta Head Property UW Globals APAC CUO P&C Reinsurance

Over a 25-year career in the insurance and reinsurance industry, Pavel has developed deep expertise across Europe, Latin America, and the Mediterranean markets. Trained as an actuary, with degrees from ITAM (Mexico) and Heriot-Watt University (Scotland), he combines strong technical foundations with extensive leadership experience in underwriting and market development.

Pavel has spent majority of his career with Swiss Re, where he has held senior roles spanning Property & Casualty treaty underwriting, team leadership, and business generation initiatives. Between 2009 and 2014, he led the Treaty Underwriting unit for Spain, Portugal, and Italy. From 2015 onwards, he played a key role in Swiss Re’s global initiative to close the natural catastrophe protection gap across EMEA, driving strategies to expand earthquake and flood insurance penetration.

Between 2019 and 2025, Pavel focused on developing tailored catastrophe risk transfer solutions for clients in the Mediterranean markets, leveraging his expertise in property treaty underwriting and nat cat risk. He served as Senior Client Underwriter at Swiss Re, responsible for the Israeli P&C treaty portfolio.

In September 2025 he moved to Tokyo to take up the lead for the Globals APAC Property treaty underwriting team.

Pavel holds dual citizenship (Mexican and Swiss) and is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with advanced business Portuguese and working knowledge of several other languages.
