Ole Rygg Group Managing Director Wells ABL Group

Ole Rygg is internationally renowned as an expert within blowout prevention and well killing. He started his career as a research scientist in multiphase flow at the Institute for Energy Technology in Norway after taking a master’s degree and PhD in fluid mechanics at the University of Oslo.

He co-founded Well Flow Dynamics in 1991 which specialized in well control and multiphase flow analysis. The company was later acquired by Add Energy Group where he served as CTO and finally as CEO. In 2022 Add Energy was acquired by ABL group and he moved into a position as Group Managing Director of Wells. He has authored a number of technical papers and holds patents within subsea operations and equipment.

Ole has advised operators world-wide on blowouts for more than three decades and was directly involved in solving the well kill operations on Montara (Australia), Macondo/Deepwater Horizon (GoM) and Elgin (North Sea). With his dedication to risk assessments and safety aspects of well operations, he has over the last years grown interest in the importance of this technology and experience in the CCUS industry.
