Professional experience

Nikhil da Victoria Lobo leads Swiss Re's Property & Casualty Reinsurance for Western & Southern Europe and Middle East & Africa with responsibility for client management, underwriting and claims.

Nikhil started his career at Securitas Capital in 2001. He joined Swiss Re in Armonk, New York in 2003 through the International Graduate Program working in Reinsurance Latin America and continued his path as an underwriter in the Latin American Facultative Property team.

In 2008, Nikhil joined Swiss Re's Public Sector Solutions business as one of its first client managers. In this role, he has initiated and nurtured relationships with senior government and business leaders in the US, Canada and Latin America and developed Swiss Re's public sector franchise from greenfield. In 2017 he was appointed a Managing Director and Head of Americas for Public Sector Solutions.

Nikhil's current responsibilities range from nationwide mutuals in France to regional insurers in UAE as well as the large multinational globals based in the region. He focuses on combining technical underwriting excellence with a deep claims and client servicing model.

During his career, Nikhil has worked on such innovative projects as the World Bank's Pandemic Emergency Facility, the first global insurance coverage for epidemic outbreaks and the Uruguay Drought Hedge, the first insurance policy to cover a government's exposure to volatile climate and energy prices. 

He has been a panellist at international events including the World Economic Forum and IMF Annual Meeting and has been featured in a wide range of media including the Wall Street Journal, US National Public Radio, The Insurer and Der Spiegel.
