Neil joined the re/insurance industry in 1984 and has accumulated nearly 40 years of experience spanning geographies including the United Kingdom, Spain, Latin America, Australia and New Zealand and the United States, with roles covering client management, business development, underwriting, and marketing.
He managed Mercantile & General’s Spanish branch office prior to moving to Australia in 1997 to join Swiss Re.
Before assuming his current post as President of US Life & Health, Neil was Head of Swiss Re’s Life & Health Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) business and a member of Swiss Re ANZ’s management team, a role he took on in 2009. His experience also includes leading Swiss Re’s New Business Origination team in Australia and New Zealand.
He has led various business and industry programs on behalf of Swiss Re. Prominent among these is the protection gap initiative, addressing the issue of underinsurance. Neil is currently a member of the Board of Directors of The American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI), including its CEO Steering Committees on Prudential Issues and Consumer Issues. He recently completed a two year tenure as Chair of LIMRA LOMA Global Board of Directors and continues as Director through the end of 2023.
He is an avid cyclist, runner and skier, having participated in various 100-mile "Century" bicycle rides in support of JDRF, as well as running events around the world. He has completed 5 of the 6 global marathon majors, with Toyko remaining. He is also a lifelong and completely obsessed Crystal Palace FC supporter.
