María Fernanda has more than 20 years of experience, holding commercial and underwriting responsibilities in treaty and facultative Marine reinsurance across Latin America, as well as gaining experience in the London market and several European countries.
For the past three years, she has chaired the Cargo Committee of the Latin American Association of Marine Underwriters (ALSUM), an organization she has been involved with since its inception. ALSUM is dedicated to promoting high-quality technical Marine underwriting across the region and fostering synergies among the various stakeholders in the marine insurance value chain, including Cargo and Hull.
She holds a degree in Business Administration and International Business from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico, as well as postgraduate qualifications in Corporate Finance from ITAM and Applied Physiology from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York.
She is an active advocate for diversity and inclusion in the corporate environment and the founder of MUISA, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting women’s participation in leadership and decision-making positions within Mexico’s insurance industry.
