Leopoldo Camara has 30 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry. In July 2024, he was appointed Head P&C Reinsurance Northern, Central & Eastern Europe and Globals NCEE, based in Munich. In September 2024, he also became Branch Manager for the German branch of Swiss Re.
He started his career in 1993 working for the Mexican Insurance Regulator. From 1994 to 1998 he worked for Zurich Insurance in Mexico where he was the local Head Reinsurance and on a global team implementing first generation natural catastrophe models. In 2001, he moved to Zurich where he worked for Zurich Re / Converium until 2005.
In 2005, Leopoldo joined Swiss Re, working for Group Finance, where he was instrumental in developing EVM - the Group's economic performance measurement framework. From 2011 to 2013 he managed Swiss Re's relationships with rating agencies. In 2013, he joined the newly formed Life & Health business management division where he served on the Executive Team.
Leopoldo transitioned into a sales role as a strategic Key Account Manager in the Globals Division in 2016. In this role he was responsible for the global relationship with two Globals clients. In 2020, Leopoldo was promoted to the role of Client Executive and member of the Globals Leadership Team, leading a team of Key Account Managers accountable for Globals clients in Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands. He was then appointed to the role of Head Globals Europe in April 2023.
Leopoldo Camara was born in Mexico City in 1968 and is a Mexican and Swiss citizen.
