Karen MacAlpine Head Claims Centre of Excellence

Karen MacAlpine was appointed Head of Claims Centre of Excellence in April 2023. 

In this new role in the newly formed Claims Centre of Excellence, Karen is responsible for building and executing on key strategic initiatives for Swiss Re's property and casualty reinsurance claims business. This includes, claims transformation and automation, global reporting & governance, claims thought leadership and building a claims academy. 

Previously, she was responsible for leading the Client Strategy & Solutions team within P&C Business Management that delivered industry leading webinars & papers on key claims topics globally. 

Karen joined Swiss Re in 2001, from the medical industry, initially working within Reinsurance Claims before moving into client management. During her tenure she has served in various roles, including Key Account Manager, Globals for Swiss Re Asia Pte Ltd's Life & Health business. In this role Karen was responsible for Swiss Re's relationships with global clients operating in the Asian region and managing and steering the profitability and growth of these client portfolios, as well as the maintenance and development of long-term business relationships.  

Karen holds a Diploma of Financial Services - Life Insurance and Superannuation, a Master of Business Administration from Macquarie Graduate School of Management. and a Bachelor of Nursing from Deakin University.
