Johan Malan Senior Risk Engineer Property CUO P&C Reinsurance

Johan qualified in 1992 as Mechanical Engineer and started with Sasol Chemical Industries in South Africa on the Gasification and Power Station units.

In 1994 he became the Section Manager for the Phenosolvan Business Unit until 1997.

He then moved to the coast and joined Tioxide South Africa as Continuous Improvement Engineer, where he was responsible for the implementation of capital projects as part of the companies McKinsey's cost and improvement project. 

During the last two years he was responsible to form the Central Engineering Team to support the plant with scheduled maintenance program, condition monitoring and turn
arounds.

In 2002 he joined Industrial Oleochemical Products as Engineering Manager, and shortly afterwards was appointed as Operations Manager and then Operations Director.

In 2015 he joined Swiss Re Corso in Zurich as part of the General Property Team of Risk Engineering. In 2016 he joined the Reinsurance Risk Engineering Team where he has been since.
