Jean-Jacques Henchoz Member of the Board of Directors (non-executive, independent)

Jean-Jacques Henchoz was elected to the Board of Directors of Swiss Re Ltd in 2026. He is a member of the Audit Committee and the Risk Committee.

 

Professional experience

Jean-Jacques Henchoz served as Chairman of the Executive Board at Hannover Re from 2019 to 2025. Prior to that, he was Chief Executive Officer Reinsurance Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Regional President EMEA at Swiss Re from 2011 to 2018.
Jean-Jacques Henchoz held several leadership positions within Swiss Re after joining the company as Facultative Property Underwriter in 1998, including President and Chief Executive Officer of Swiss Re Canada based in Toronto, Head of Strategic Planning and Head of Financial Solutions in Zurich. He started his career at the Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs in Berne before moving on to the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development in London and then Société Générale de Surveillance in Geneva.
