Giovanni Gentile Chief Financial Officer Life & Health

Giovanni Gentile was appointed Chief Financial Officer Life & Health in April 2023. In this role he leads a global finance team located across regions, including APAC, Americas and EMEA. The team serves the new L&H Business Unit in providing financial reporting, planning and analysis, as well as performance management and decision support to the markets within the new Life & Health set-up.

Prior to this, Giovanni was CFO Reinsurance since July 2022, where he led a team of over 400 financial professionals responsible for the financials of the Reinsurance BU. The team partnered and provided financial insights and analysis to our regional and divisional stakeholders to help steer the BU towards their financial targets.

Giovanni has more than 20 years' experience in the financial services industry. Since joining Swiss Re in 1999, he has held a range of positions within Swiss Re, including within Treasury, Structured Solutions, Risk Management, Legal and various roles within Finance. In his previous role, Giovanni was Head of Strategy, Corporate Finance & Capital Management, which included funding the firm in the capital markets, managing interactions with rating agencies, developing the groups strategy, as well as planning & performance management. Prior to that, as Head of Regulatory Affairs, he managed group-wide relationships with regulators and policy makers, actively contributing to setting industry standards for best practice economic valuation and capital frameworks.

A Swiss citizen, Giovanni holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from ETH Zürich, and has been a FRM and CFA charter holder since 2003.
