Elyssa joined Swiss Re in January 2020 as Chief Medical Officer L&H Americas. In this role, Elyssa represents Swiss Re across the industry to interact with clients' underwriting and medical leadership and oversee the medical training and development of the L&H underwriting and claims team.
In 2013, Elyssa transitioned into the life insurance market as Medical Director for MetLife, ending a 30-year career in direct patient care medicine, which included private practice, hospice, geriatrics and emergency medicine as well as teaching critical reasoning at University of Connecticut School of Medicine and visiting instructor for Quinnipiac University's athletic training and physician assistant programs. She was also former host of a live talk-radio show entitled “House Calls with Dr Lissy."
Elyssa received her BA from Kenyon College and received her Doctor in Medicine from Medical College of Ohio followed by an internal medicine residency. She serves on the boards of American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM). She is board certified in internal medicine and insurance medicine.
