Désirée Wappler Senior Public Affairs Manager Group Public Affairs

Désirée Wappler is a Senior Public Affairs Manager at Swiss Re. She
manages the strategic positioning of Swiss Re's thought leadership and risk
knowledge among key decision makers in EMEA and the Americas. Central
to her work is building relationships and opportunities for stakeholder
dialogue with eminent IGOs, diplomatic representations, industry
associations, academic establishments and other institutions on Swiss Re's
Group Topics. A particular focus includes overseeing Swiss Re's external
communications and engagements on sustainability subjects.

A former policy analyst, she previously served as a Political Affairs Officer in
the Swiss Foreign Ministry's Office of the Special Envoy for Cyber Foreign
and Security Policy (later restructured into the Digitalisation Division). Before
that, Désirée was a Political Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Bern. Prior to
joining the U.S. Department of State, she worked in the political section of
the Swiss Embassy in Singapore.

Désirée holds a MSc in International Management CEMS from the UCD
Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School and a Bachelor’s in Media and
Communications and Spanish and Latin American Studies from the
University of Sydney. She is a member of the Cambridge Institute for
Sustainability Leadership (CISL) Network.
