Carol Gobin-Hurtado Claims Expert Market Units P&C Reinsurance

Carol Gobin-Hurtado is Vice President and Claims Expert for Swiss Re Canada, located in Toronto, Ontario. She joined Swiss Re in 2005 and is the Natural Catastrophe Claims Expert for Canada and the English Caribbean. Carol is responsible for the English Caribbean and Canadian clients and has been actively involved in the recent catastrophic events in both Canada and the English Caribbean. She is responsible for the management of over $250M (CAD) in total incurred claims for all lines of business, with expertise in property and engineering losses. She is passionate on the topic of climate change impact to our communities and environment and is focused on Nat Cat Preparedness, protocols, response efforts and sustainability measures. Carol was instrumental in organizing Nat Cat Roundtable discussions amongst English Caribbean companies to share lessons learned from the HIM losses. She continues to work with her clients to help build resiliency in our Canadian and English Caribbean markets. Carol was born in Trinidad and studied in Ontario, Canada to obtain her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and Certified Insurance Professional Designation. She is an active Committee Member of the Canadian Insurance Claims Managers Association.
