Augusto was appointed Head of Life & Health Continental Europe in March 2021. In this role he is responsible for all of Swiss Re's Life & Health business in the region.
A reinsurance industry veteran, Augusto joined Swiss Re from Munich Re, where he held the position of CEO Life & Health - Southern Europe & Latin America, responsible for Life and Health Reinsurance business in Italy, Malta, Spain, Portugal and all countries in Latin America. He is a big fan of innovation and digitalization in the insurance industry, having co-founded and managed MundiLab in 2015, a pioneer InsurTech accelerator.
He has more than 20 years of experience in numerous actuarial and management roles in the insurance industry, including actuarial consulting firms and insurance and reinsurance companies.
Augusto holds a bachelor's degree in Economics Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid. He is a qualified actuary by the Spanish Institute of Actuaries and also holds an Executive MBA degree from ESADE Business School. He has attended advanced management programs at ESMT in Germany, IMD in Switzerland, INSEAD in France and London Business School.
He is a proud father of four and loves riding horses and motorbikes, as well as many outdoor activities.
