Andrea Burkhardt leads the Climate Division of the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment. The division is in charge of Swiss climate policy and implements international provisions such as the United Nation Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement. It prepares national legislation (CO2 act) and implements market-based instruments such as CO2 levy, voluntary agreements, emissions trading, offset projects within and outside Switzerland. It also co-ordinates measures to adapt to climate change based on a national adaptation strategy, reports greenhouse gas emissions (GHG inventory, CO2 statistics) and reviews effectiveness of climate policy.
Andrea Burkhardt has a Master of Economics and Political Science, and an Executive MBA.
