Žiga Žarnić leads the OECD’s work on recovery, SDGs and impact measurement at the OECD WISE Centre. His team has recently released the 2022 update of the OECD COVID-19 recovery dashboard, welcomed by the Ministers at the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting, as well as the OECD metrics for measuring distance to SDG targets, welcomed by the OECD SDG Council.

Focused on the [S]ocial-[E]nvironmental transition, Žiga Žarnić oversees the stream on measuring non-financial impacts of business, and represents the OECD at the Council for Inclusive Capitalism and the Business for Inclusive Growth business coalitions.

Previously, he was in charge of the OECD Round Table on Sustainable Development and held advisory posts at the OECD Secretary-General’s Office and the Environment Director’s Office.

Žiga holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Leuven and started his career at the IMF, European Commission, Kiel institute for the World Economy and other economic research institutes.
