Senior Enterprise Architect
Bangalore or Hyderabad, India
Artificial intelligence is reshaping the re/insurance industry — and at Swiss Re, we're not just watching it happen. We're architecting it. If you're a seasoned Enterprise Architect with a passion for AI and a talent for turning complex strategy into scalable, production-ready reality, this is your opportunity to leave a lasting mark on one of the world's most innovative financial institutions.
About the Role
As a Senior Enterprise Architect within Swiss Re's Group Enterprise Architecture function, you will be at the heart of the company's AI transformation. This is a high-impact individual contributor role with broad enterprise exposure — working at the intersection of business ambition and technology delivery. Depending on your experience and business priorities, you may focus on Architecture Delivery (shaping and driving strategic AI initiatives end-to-end) or Enablement & Governance (building the enterprise capabilities, standards, and guardrails that allow AI to scale safely and consistently) — or contribute across both. Either way, you'll be a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and a key voice in shaping Swiss Re's AI architecture landscape globally.
Key Responsibilities
AI Strategy, Use Cases & Target Architecture
Lead engagement with business areas and Domains on AI initiatives, shaping use cases, transformation roadmaps, target architectures, blueprints, and transition plans
Contribute to Swiss Re's AI Strategy, ensuring architecture supports and accelerates the company's broader ambitions
Design end-to-end AI solution architectures spanning business, application, data, model, integration, security, evaluation, observability, and production deployment dimensions
Translate business strategy into coherent AI architectures, ensuring alignment between capabilities, application landscapes, data models, technology platforms, and operating models
Drive standardization, simplification, and reuse, including rigorous assessment of build-versus-buy, model, and platform options across value, risk, scalability, performance, resilience, and total cost of ownership
Enterprise Architecture Delivery & Production Readiness
Act as lead Enterprise Architect on selected large, complex programs (including AI) and take full architecture accountability for outcomes
Provide architecture guidance from strategy and concept through implementation, production readiness, stabilization, and operational ownership
Ensure solution designs align with approved target architectures, AI standards, principles, reference architectures, and enterprise guardrails
Challenge design decisions to protect architectural integrity, measurable business value, and sustainable delivery
Support program and project leadership in managing architecture risks, dependencies, trade-offs, integration, resilience, monitoring, and lifecycle management
Maintain accurate enterprise inventories and governance records by contributing and validating information on delivered AI solutions
Architecture Enablement, Standards & Reference Architectures
Provide leadership for enterprise AI architecture enablement, delivering intelligence and guidance to delivery teams, Domains, and architecture stakeholders
Identify and act on enterprise patterns, gaps, risks, and opportunities across use cases and delivered solutions
Define, own, and evolve AI standards, principles, reusable patterns, reference architectures, methods, and pragmatic guardrails
Set direction for clear, actionable guidance that enables teams to make consistent, safe, and scalable architecture decisions
Identify and promote reuse opportunities across Domains, leveraging AI inventory, GEAR, and enterprise intelligence
Enterprise Architecture Governance, Inventory & Portfolio Insight
Lead and shape AI architecture governance and Design Authority, including review criteria, review gates, quality assurance, and compliance mechanisms
Ensure AI solutions address Responsible AI, privacy, security, model risk, human oversight, auditability, regulatory, and enterprise risk considerations
Promote consistent AI evaluation approaches covering quality, grounding, hallucination risk, robustness, latency, security, and cost
Govern and evolve the AI inventory, using it to generate architecture insights, identify patterns and gaps, and support transparent decisions
Provide portfolio-level insight and recommendations on deployed AI assets, reuse opportunities, architecture risks, standards adoption, and enterprise-wide implications
Cross-Domain Collaboration & Influence
Collaborate closely with Domain Architects, business stakeholders, technology teams, risk and control partners, and other architecture disciplines to achieve enterprise alignment
Resolve cross-domain dependencies and conflicts, balancing enterprise consistency with pragmatic Domain needs
Champion a one-architecture mindset and contribute to the architecture community through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and coaching
Build trusted relationships with senior business and technology stakeholders and act as a strategic advisor on investment decisions and transformation roadmaps
Deliver executive-ready, fact-based insights and recommendations that drive informed decisions

The team plays a pivotal role in shaping how Swiss Re harnesses technology — including AI — to create sustainable business value, drive innovation, and manage enterprise risk responsibly.
Organized across two complementary functions — Delivery and Enablement & Governance — the team works in close partnership with business Domains, technology functions, and senior leadership to define target architectures, set enterprise standards, and ensure that solutions are scalable, resilient, and aligned with Swiss Re's long-term direction. Together, the team fosters a culture of architectural excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement, with a strong commitment to responsible and inclusive innovation at enterprise scale.
About You
You are a strategic thinker and a pragmatic doer — someone who can hold the long view on enterprise architecture while rolling up your sleeves to guide complex delivery. You bring intellectual curiosity, strong systems thinking, and the ability to navigate ambiguity with confidence. You communicate with clarity and conviction, whether you're advising a C-suite stakeholder or mentoring a fellow architect. You thrive in collaborative, matrixed environments and take genuine pride in raising the quality of architecture across the teams you work with.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, technology architecture, or transformation roles within complex, matrixed, or global organizations, with a proven track record of leading cross-domain initiatives
Hands-on experience designing and implementing production-grade AI solutions beyond prompt-only agents, including practical knowledge of AI/GenAI architecture patterns such as LLMs, RAG, embeddings/vector search, agents and tool use, model selection, prompt and model lifecycle management, and AI evaluation
Deep expertise in enterprise architecture frameworks, governance models, and design authority processes, including standards, principles, reference architectures, and operating models, with demonstrated experience influencing enterprise-level decisions at senior stakeholder level
Experience with MLOps/LLMOps, AI security and privacy patterns, observability, model monitoring, and Responsible AI controls, with the ability to evaluate AI technology choices across quality, risk, scalability, latency, resilience, reuse, and cost
Proven ability to use architecture inventories, repositories, and portfolio information to identify patterns, gaps, reuse opportunities, and governance insights, and to translate these into clear, actionable recommendations
These are additional nice to haves:
Experience in re/insurance or financial services environments
TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification
Relevant AI, cloud, data, security, or architecture certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP, CISSP, CDMP)
Experience working in globally distributed, multicultural teams across multiple time zones
Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to AI in financial services
Demonstrated experience mentoring architects and building architecture capability within a community of practice
Strong facilitation skills, with experience leading design authority forums, architecture reviews, and governance boards
