Head of Full Risk Transfer & Longevity In-force (Hybrid / 80-100% working degree)

If that's you, then join us as Head of FRT & Longevity In-force and take end‑to‑end accountability and strategic development of two of Swiss Re's key L&H Transactions in-force portfolios — a large, complex, and strategically critical business for the Group.

About the Role

  • Lead the FRT US & Longevity In-force team, setting clear priorities and building a culture of accountability, collaboration and technical excellence.
  • Own the operational, technical and commercial management of these portfolios.
  • Ensure rigorous and consistent onboarding, data management, modelling, monitoring and governance across all in-scope transactions.
  • Act as business lead for the longevity systems and data transformation, including operating-model design, migration delivery, stakeholder engagement, risk management and benefits realization.
  • Oversee core actuarial activities, including experience analysis, modelling, valuation assumption support and validation of premiums, claims, settlements and collateral.
  • Provide clear, decision-oriented insight on treaty level performance, emerging trends, risk drivers, sensitivities and value creation.
  • Manage contractual compliance, disputes and complex client matters.
  • Lead the operational and in-force implications of new transactions, working closely with Pricing & Structuring teams, Valuation, Finance and Operations.
  • Improve processes, controls, documentation and technology across the in-force lifecycle.
  • Represent FRT & Longevity In-force with senior internal stakeholders, clients and counterparties.
  • Contribute directly to the onboarding and monitoring of selected FRT transactions where required.

About the Team

The FRT & Longevity In-force team is part of the Transactions In-force organization and has a global remit.

The team manages:

  • A major longevity portfolio covering the UK, with growing exposure in other regions ( Netherlands, Canda, US, Singapore)
  • The Americas FRT portfolio including a significant protection book.

The team currently comprises 10 colleagues located in the UK and US with plans to grow in line with Swiss Re’s strategic ambitions to grow L&H Transactions earnings.

About You

You are a senior actuarial leader with the credibility to engage at executive level and the hands‑on understanding required to lead a technically complex global portfolio. You combine strong judgement with a structured mindset, and you are comfortable making decisions in areas of uncertainty and long‑term risk.

You have a proven ability manage complex projects, connect actuarial outputs to business outcomes, to lead teams through change, and to take ownership of both delivery and strategic improvement.

Essentials

  • Qualified actuary with substantial life insurance, pensions and/or reinsurance experience.
  • Strong experience in longevity risk transactions.
  • Experience with complex Full Risk Transfer transactions, such as closed books, VIF transactions or Loss Portfolio Transfers.
  • Experience leading large-scale systems, data-management, modelling or migration programmes.
  • Strong technical actuarial expertise, including experience analysis and modelling.
  • Ability to work with large and complex datasets; proficiency in R, Python or equivalent is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated people leadership and talent-development experience.
  • Strong delivery, change leadership and stakeholder-management capabilities.
  • Clear and credible communication with senior, cross-functional and international audiences.
  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented judgement, balanced with appropriate governance and risk management.

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with Full Risk Transfer and longevity reinsurance treaties, bulk annuities and associated legal documentation.
  • Experience managing significant client relationships or complex disputes.
  • Experience working in a global and multicultural environment.

Compensation & Work Model

For London, the base salary range for this position is between £144,000 and £216,000 for a full-time role.

• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience

In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.

Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
