About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Swiss Re's Life & Health Reinsurance Market Unit in Hong Kong as a Claims Specialist, where your technical expertise will directly influence the quality and integrity of claims decisions across the HKTW portfolio. You'll be a key contributor to a team that values precision, fairness, and continuous improvement — working at the intersection of client service, governance, and claims innovation.

Reporting to the Head of L&H Underwriting, Claims & HNW for Hong Kong & Taiwan, you will play an instrumental role in delivering a meaningful, best-in-class claims service while sharing expertise with clients and internal stakeholders across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain governance guidelines and quality control for a robust operation of HKTW L&H Claims and ensuring adherence to relevant frameworks and standards
  • Manage and assess claims with technical rigor, delivering fair, accurate, and timely decisions that align with policy terms, conditions, and pricing assumptions
  • Support Claims Reviews and Audits within the internal framework, providing actionable recommendations to improve both technical decision-making and operational efficiency to enhance clients' claims standards
  • Support client engagement through visits and training sessions, enhancing the quality and effectiveness of claims management
  • Support the development of training materials and programs tailored to client requirements and emerging industry topics
  • Provide technical input on emerging issues and actively support process enhancement initiatives 
  • Maintain accountability for individual claim quality, accuracy, turnaround times, and a high standard of customer service 

About the Team

The Underwriting and Claims team is part of Life & Health Reinsurance Market Unit Hong Kong & Taiwan. The team is responsible for delivering disciplined, high-quality risk selection for HNW business while supporting sound management of the in-force portfolio. Working closely with cross-functional teams across L&H, the team applies deep underwriting expertise and portfolio insights to support strong new business margins, sustainable client solutions, and informed portfolio decisions — all while championing operational excellence, risk governance, and continuous improvement across the HNW underwriting value chain.

About You

You are a technically strong, detail-oriented claims professional who brings both depth of expertise and a collaborative spirit to everything you do. You are comfortable navigating complexity, engaging with clients, and contributing to a team culture that values curiosity, integrity, and continuous learning. You know how to balance the detail with the bigger picture — and you're not afraid to challenge the status quo when it leads to better outcomes.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • University degree or equivalent qualification in insurance, business, financial services, law, or a medical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in critical illness, disability, death and medical claims within an insurance or reinsurance environment, with demonstrated technical proficiency in assessing complex claims.
  • Strong knowledge of Life & Health insurance/reinsurance, including technical claims assessment, underwriting principles, and product knowledge 
  • Proven analytical capability, including experience handling and interpreting large volumes of data to inform decisions and identify trends
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Cantonese, with the ability to present, influence, and engage effectively with both
  • internal stakeholders and external clients; proficiency in Mandarin will be considered an asset
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, with the ability to build strong relationships across diverse groups
  • Curiosity and courage to challenge existing approaches, bringing fresh thinking that enhances business outcomes
  • Ability to step back from details to see the bigger picture.

The base salary range for this position will be shared with you during the interview process
