Louise Lawler photographs artworks in museums, private collections, auction houses, and in storage to consider art and objects in their working contexts. Her "adjusted to fit works" alter such previously extant photographic images she has taken by stretching and distorting them to conform to the proportions of the walls on which they are displayed.
One of the foremost members of the Pictures Generation, she was the subject of a one-person exhibition, WHY PICTURES NOW, at the Museum of Modern Art, New York in 2017.
