Born in Kent in 1962, Hume's career was kick-started just after graduating from Goldsmith College with his inclusion in Damien Hirst's 1998 Freeze show, from which Charles Saatchi purchased one of his famous life-size representation of hospital door paintings.

Nowadays, the English artist and member of the Young British Artists is best known for his stylized depictions of everyday objects using high-gloss industrial paint. Internationally recognised in both Europe and America, Hume has exhibited extensively around the world.
