Description

Desire Paintings is the title of an ongoing series of paintings by David Renggli. The works are made of a background wood panel painted with abstract forms in various colours, juxtaposed by a coir mesh in the front, in which different motifs are painted. The overlapping of both surfaces creates a three-dimensional depth reminiscent of pop art. With an ironic note the paintings combine the aesthetics of decorative interior design and arts and crafts and make references to concrete art by challenging the tradition of abstract art.
