Description

Augen O-96 shows a pairs of eyes framed by a symbolic fringe of hair descending and closing in on one another until finally merging into a single eye with two pupils. The theme of the body – and in particular, excised cut-outs of body parts such as eyes, legs or hands – is a recurring subject matter in Bächli's typically small-to-medium format works on paper. This fragmentation of the body leaves the viewer with a sense of unease and tension yet also serves to generate a potent intensity.
