Samrat Dua, currently Chief Innovation & Transformation Officer and member of the Corporate Solutions Executive Committee, has been appointed Chief InfoTech and Data Officer for Reinsurance, effective 12 April 2021. His appointment underscores Swiss Re's commitment to advance our digital transformation through top-notch tech- and data-led capabilities across Reinsurance.
Samrat is an accomplished leader with a deep technology background and strong business acumen. He joined Swiss Re in 2005 and has successfully held various roles across the Group. He has successfully headed business transformation programmes, modernised IT landscapes and built greenfield tech-enabled businesses and best-in-class platforms for Swiss Re's insurance, reinsurance and asset management units.
Prior to joining Swiss Re, Samrat was a Manager of Consulting Services at Capgemini, Ernst & Young, where he focused on the healthcare insurance and financial services sectors, managing large teams to deliver data and tech solutions to clients.
Following Samrat's appointment, Ashley Hirst, Chief Underwriting Officer Standard, will assume Samrat's responsibilities in addition to his current role. He will continue the digital transformation journey of Corporate Solutions, connect closely with the Group and, given his dual role, will apply an even stronger customer focus.
As part of his role, Ashley will continue to develop new, disruptive businesses with Corporate Solutions' Innovation & Transformation Office, including the innovative solutions and services we deliver to customers directly, like our International Business Program and Standard Underwriting propositions, and through partnerships with companies like Hitachi.
Prior to joining Swiss Re, Ashley held several senior level roles at AIG, including European CUO and COO.
