Senior Research Specialist

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Research Specialist to join the GDM Research and Sales Enablement team in Bangalore, supporting Swiss Re Corporate Solutions through research, analytics, market intelligence, and business-relevant insights across commercial insurance markets, industries, customers, brokers, competitors, and the broader business ecosystem.
The candidate must be able to connect internal business and portfolio data with market and industry insights to translate complex information into concise, structured, and actionable outputs that support client engagement, sales enablement, leadership discussions, and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis across commercial insurance markets, industries, customers, brokers, competitors, and emerging business themes.
- Analyze internal business and portfolio data and combine it with market and industry insights to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and business implications.
- Partner with stakeholders through consultative engagements to understand evolving business priorities, translate requirements into research objectives, and deliver tailored insight solutions that support decision-making.
- Transform complex business questions into structured research approaches with clear findings, practical recommendations, and actionable insights.
- Support customer engagements, account planning, sales enablement, strategic initiatives, and senior stakeholder discussions through relevant business insights.
- Prepare executive-ready deliverables, including market scans, competitor analysis, customer intelligence packs, company profiles, strategic summaries, leadership briefings, and presentations.
- Ensure research outputs are accurate, well-sourced, concise, commercially relevant, and tailored to senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
- Monitor developments across re/insurance, specialty lines, broker activity, regulation, economic trends, and sector-specific risks to ensure insights remain relevant and impactful.
- Maintain knowledge repositories, dashboards, templates, and reusable insight materials, while supporting quality improvement and capability building across the team.
About the Team
The GDM Research and Sales Enablement team delivers research, analytics, and market intelligence that support business teams across Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. The team provides insights on customers, brokers, industries, competitors, and market developments to support client engagements, sales enablement, and strategic decision-making.
About You
Required Skills and Experience
- 8+ years of experience in secondary research, market intelligence, business research, insurance research, consulting support or strategic analysis.
- Prior experience in re/insurance, re/insurance broking, risk advisory, consulting or corporate strategy is preferred.
- Strong ability to analyze companies, financials, industry trends, market dynamics, competitor activity and business performance indicators.
- Build and apply AI-enabled solutions to improve research efficiency, streamline workflows, and enhance output quality while ensuring accuracy and source validation.
- Ability to interpret internal business and portfolio data, integrating it with market trends and industry developments to generate strategic business insights.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and ability to work with complex or incomplete information.
- Excellent business writing, executive summarization and stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to deliver clear, concise and decision-ready outputs within agreed timelines.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to support multiple priorities across business teams.
Tools and Platforms:
- Proficiency in market intelligence and research platforms including Orbis, Factiva, S&P Capital IQ/S&P Global, AXCO, GlobalData, and Bloomberg.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with advanced use of Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to translate insights from AM Best, Fitch, and Moody's analyst publications into business impact and strategic recommendations.
- Experience driving process automation, workflow optimization, and operational efficiency initiatives.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Insurance, Risk Management, Data Analytics or a related field.
- Certificate in insurance such as Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) would be an advantage.
