About the Role

As Manager Operations L&H in São Paulo, you will lead a team of 8–10 professionals to deliver excellence in technical accounting and business services. You will own the end-to-end operational model, drive automation and digitization, and act as a regional Subject Matter Expert — all while shaping the future of Swiss Re's Life & Health operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead e2e operations: Ensure timely and accurate premium collection and claims payout, with quality-assured data processing and effective ledger management.
  • Drive digitization & automation: Champion digital tools and automated processes to boost efficiency and apply accuracy thresholds across the portfolio.
  • Manage risk & data quality: Use data and technology to steer the business and proactively mitigate financial and reputational risks.
  • Develop people & teams: Inspire and grow a team of 8–10 employees, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Manage stakeholders: Deliver proactive internal and external customer service and build strong relationships across the organization.
  • Drive process improvement: Implement robust controls and governance frameworks to ensure operational excellence.
  • Oversee budgets & reporting: Monitor budgets, cost allocations, and business steering reports for management and supervisory purposes.


About the Team

The Business Operations L&H (Technical Accounting & Business Services) team is a cornerstone of Swiss Re's Life & Health operations. We process client data, manage ledgers, collect premiums, and pay claims — with precision and care. We are a collaborative, forward-thinking group of 8–10 professionals that embraces innovation and continuous improvement, and we take pride in the trust our stakeholders place in us.

 

About You

You are a strategic yet hands-on operations leader with a collaborative mindset, a passion for people development, and the ability to navigate complexity with confidence. You communicate clearly, build strong relationships, and are energized by driving meaningful change.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Leadership experience: 5+ years in a managerial role within financial services, insurance, reinsurance, or shared services, with proven experience managing and developing teams.
  • Technical Accounting knowledge: Solid grasp of premium processing, claims management, ledger management, and financial reporting in an L&H or reinsurance context.
  • Operations & process management: Proven ability to design, improve, and govern e2e operational processes, including controls and automation.
  • Data & digitization skills: Experience leveraging data analytics and digital tools for operational decision-making and reporting.
  • Communication skills: Fluency in English and Portuguese, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Knowledge of L&H insurance or reinsurance products in Brazil or Latin America.
  • Background in change management or digital transformation projects.
  • Proficiency in Spanish as an additional language.
  • Experience in a multinational or matrix organization.
 

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
