Engineering Manager (Technical)
Location: Hyderabad, India
Are you a technically-driven engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of hands-on architecture and people leadership? Do you want to shape the future of cloud-native insurance technology at a global scale? If you're passionate about building high-performing teams, championing modern engineering practices and driving AI-powered transformation — this is the role for you.
About the Role
As an Engineering Manager (Technical) within L&H Solutions, you'll be at the heart of engineering delivery — balancing deep technical leadership with the inspiration and development of a talented, globally distributed team. This is not a role where you step away from the code; you'll remain hands-on, leading by example while driving architectural excellence, AI-enabled engineering practices and the delivery of secure, scalable and resilient solutions that matter to clients worldwide.
Working closely with Product Owners, Architects, Platform Engineering teams and Engineering Leadership, you'll have real influence over technical strategy while building a culture where engineers thrive, innovate and grow.

Lead architecture, design and engineering decisions across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), setting the technical direction for L&H Solutions.
Drive the adoption of AI-assisted software engineering practices, including AI-supported coding, testing, code reviews, documentation and developer productivity tooling.
Champion modern engineering practices such as Cloud-native development, Domain-Driven Design (DDD), DevSecOps, CI/CD, Platform Engineering and Observability.
Stay hands-on by actively contributing to solution design, code reviews, technical problem-solving and the definition of engineering standards.
Promote engineering quality through automation, security-first thinking, performance optimisation and a culture of continuous improvement.
Engineering Management (30%)
Build, lead, coach and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering individual growth and collective excellence.
Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to align engineering delivery with strategic initiatives and business outcomes.
Drive Agile delivery, engineering KPIs and continuous improvement practices across teams.
Foster a culture of innovation, ownership and collaboration, where technical excellence is celebrated and engineers are empowered to do their best work.

About You
You are a seasoned engineering leader who leads with both technical depth and human empathy. You bring a rare combination of architectural vision, hands-on coding capability and the ability to inspire and grow the people around you. You are energised by complexity, driven by quality and excited about the transformative potential of AI in modern software engineering. You communicate with clarity, collaborate across boundaries and bring out the best in every team member.
We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
12–15+ years of software engineering experience, including a minimum of 5 years leading engineering teams in a hands-on technical leadership capacity.
Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, APIs and distributed systems, with a proven track record of designing scalable, secure and cloud-native enterprise applications.
Deep knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, CI/CD, DevSecOps, Kubernetes and Azure, combined with practical experience in Platform Engineering, Observability, automated testing and resilient system design.
These are additional nice to haves:
Experience with AI-enabled SDLC practices and hands-on use of AI developer tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot or similar) to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
Demonstrated passion for mentoring engineers and driving engineering transformation at an organisational level.
Experience working in Agile, globally distributed engineering organisations, with the ability to navigate complexity across time zones and cultures.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
Exposure to the insurance or financial services industry, particularly Life & Health domains, is a plus.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
