Driving Disruptive Business Model Transformation

Imagine a future in which all cars are autonomous, connected, electric and shared. Alternative modes of transportation have replaced car ownership, vast amounts of telematics data open new opportunities for flexible insurance products and customers interact much more closely with their insurance company. While this scenario may seem beyond the horizon, it is all but certain that over the next decade a growing number of trends will disrupt all insurance lines. As insurance shifts from "detect and repair" to "predict and prevent", is your company ready to meet the needs of these future customers? What is the best way to design, operationalise and stress test your business model for a future that is still unknown? This is exactly what we invite you to experience in this simulation-based interactive workshop.

As part of the management team of an established and reputable motor insurance company, now it is your time to be in the driver’s seat. Your team has been asked by the board to analyse key trends and disruptions that will shape the future of motor insurance in the next few years and to come up with a business model transformation strategy to successfully reposition your company.

Your three key benefits

  • Highly interactive course simulating the drafting and execution of a realistic business model transformation strategy that balances multiple dynamics like risk management, economy of scale, digitalisation and regulatory requirements.
  • Access to and exchange with leading experts sharing their knowledge about disruptive trends in the insurance industry, business model transformation and cutting-edge solutions.
  • Hands-on application of business process and data analytics methodologies and tools enabling a probabilistic approach to decision making.

To kick off the programme we start with a meet and greet of the participants, followed by a high-level overview of the content and timing of the six modules.

An industry expert presents an overview of trends and disruptions in the motor insurance industry. In a roundtable conversation, we then discuss what a perfect storm of disruptions means and how a probabilistic approach to decision-making can address these challenges.

In the second part of this module, you are put in teams of 4 to 5 participants and receive the first part of the case study together with a radar chart. In breakout sessions each team analyses the data received, maps the trends and disruptions on the radar chart and presents their analysis to the larger group.

In teams you then receive the second part of the case study where you apply a selected reading grid to understand your unique business model in the context of the marketplace presented in the case.
