EEAG Report 2020
On 9 March 2020, Swiss Re Institute hosted the launch of the annual report of the European Economic Advisory Group (EEAG) at the Centre for Global Dialogue. This time, the report's focus was on fair taxation in a mobile world – but COVID-19 was also center stage.
Two of the seven members of the EEAG were on hand to present the findings of the EEAG Report 2020:They were Jan-Egbert Sturm (Professor of Applied Macroeconomics and Director KOF Swiss Economic Institute, ETH Zurich) and Clemens Fuest (Professor for Economics and Public Finance at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and President of the ifo Institute). Jan-Egbert Sturm had everyone's attention with his keynote on the macroeconomic conditions and outlook. While this is always interesting, yesterday there was an unusual intensity in the room. You would have heard a pin drop as Sturm talked about rapidly shifting economic conditions due to COVID-19. Read more.
