Seita Emori joined National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) as Researcher in 1997 after completing his doctorate in the University of Tokyo. He has been working as the Deputy Director of Center for Global Environmental Research since 2021, and as the leader of Social Dialogue and Co-production Office since 2016. His area of specialty is future projections and risk studies of climate change. He is a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 5th Assessment Report (AR5) and 6th Assessment Report (AR6).

He was awarded the 2012 Horiuchi Prize by the Meteorological Society of Japan. He is the author of "Extreme Weather and Humanity's Choice" and "Is the Prediction of Global Warming 'Correct'? and co-author of the book "How 'Scary' is Global Warming? The Global Warming Theory".
