Insurance – China's path to advancing a clean energy future, food security and city resilience
By Jayne Plunkett, CEO Reinsurance Asia, Swiss Re
Swiss Re has been named the China Reinsurer of the Year 2011 for successfully localizing our international experience to meet the needs of clients in China.
The award is part of the "Focus of Insurance Awards 2011,” run by China Insurance Marketing, a leading and highly respected trade publication in China. Since the awards started to cover reinsurance in 2010, this is the second time we are named the Best Reinsurer of the year. And this year we shared the award with the China Life Reinsurance Company.
Robert Wiest, Swiss Re Head of China, said, "We are delighted to win this award, which is an excellent start to the new year and a strong recognition of our efforts to share our global experience with our clients in China."
On behalf of Swiss Re, Qin Lu, Swiss Re Beijing Branch General Manager, received the award from Bo Yan, Deputy Director General of the China Insurance Regulatory Commission, at the award ceremony on 5 January in Beijing.
Looking ahead, Robert Wiest said, "We are pleased with what we have achieved in 2011. And we are ready to outperform in 2012 by proving our value to our clients. Given the strong growth of the re/insurance sector in China, and with competition getting fiercer, we will need to work even more closely with our clients this year."
As with last year’s awards, Swiss Re also sponsored the Corporate Social Responsibility Award. More stories (in Chinese only) on the "Focus of Insurance Awards 2011" can be found on sina.com, a leading news portal in China, and hexun.com, a top financial news portal in China.
