Technology and digitalization continue to transform the industry. Swiss Re's Future Ready cocktail event brought together clients, brokers and colleagues to help navigate through the transformation and explore the new world of digital ecosystems.

Monica Ningen, President & CEO, Canada & English Caribbean, Swiss Re, kicked-off the afternoon by welcoming guests and introducing the panel moderator, Pascal Marmier, Head SRI Engagement Americas, Swiss Re Institute.

The event then turned to the panel of industry experts: Monica Ningen, President & CEO, Canada & English Caribbean, Swiss Re; Jayne Olsen, Head Digital & Smart Analytics Americas, Swiss Re; and Francois Lafortune, Partner, Portag3 and Founder & CEO, Diagram. They shared their views on the various opportunities, as well as challenges, for insurance in the world of digital ecosystems.

Monica shared her outlook on digital ecosystems, noting success depends on several key factors: maturity of existing infrastructure, access to new sources of data, technology, ability to develop domain expertise, maintaining increasing customer engagement and regulatory openness.

Jayne provided an overview of all things digital ecosystems and discussed how insurance is a service offering that fits naturally into certain ecosystems like mobility, healthcare, housing, and many B2C and B2B marketplaces. She also spotlighted how emerging digital risks create new protection gaps and new business opportunities around cyber security, IoT risk, counterparty risks, business interruption and systems failure.

Francois, meanwhile, highlighted technology trends that are changing the world, including the cost and speed to innovate, mass adoption of mobile and social networks, and access to data. He went on to also discuss the role collaboration plays for the insurer of the future.

A lively Q&A session and cocktail reception followed, where attendees mixed and mingled and furthered their conversations.
