Gerd Leonhard is a well-known futurist, the author of five books, a highly influential keynote speaker, think-tank leader and advisor, and since late 2011, the founder of GreenFuturists.com. He is also a visiting professor at the Fundação Dom Cabral in São Paulo, Brazil.

Gerd Leonhard's background is in music. In 1985 he won the Berklee College of Music’s Quincy Jones Award and subsequently spent ten years working as a professional guitar player, composer and producer. He then caught the Internet bug and became a digital media entrepreneur and start-up Internet CEO, based in San Francisco for seven years. In 2002, he returned to Europe and started his present career.
He is well known as the coauthor of the influential book The Future of Music, and as the author of The End of Control, Music 2.0, Friction is Fiction and The Future of Content. His new book From Ego to Eco will be released in 2012.
Mr Leonhard is a fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts and a member of the World Future Society.
